Stream of Consciousness Painting
THERE IS A PLACE DEEP IN A FOREST OF TALL TREES WHERE THE LIGHT FILTERS THRU THE TREES TO TOUCH THE GROUND. THIS IS THAT PLACE-A PLACE OF WARMNESS IN THE COOL WOODS.
The first signs of spring are eagerly looked for after a long cold winter. The Dogwood, with it’s promise of resurrection is always one of the first to bloom.
Much like "Seeing The Light" and "Out of the Woods" the random underpainting contained an image fully formed. The marcelled hair seems very old fashioned.
I loved the unusual colors of this piece. It is just a juxtaposition of layered colors and textures.
A collage underpainting created the base. These flowers aren't like any I have ever seen.
This piece was done with multiple thin layers of glossy paint that I slid around the canvas rather like painting on glass. I thought it was going to be a sunset but ended up looking more like a fire.
SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO LAY BACK AND LET THE WATER SUPPORT YOU AS YOU DRIFT THRU LIFE TRUSTING THAT YOU WILL END UP WHER YOU ARE MEANT TO BE.
I wanted to show the luminosity of the water and the way it flows from level to level like liquid veils of color thru the painting. The painting began as thin washes of color with saran wrap pressed into each layer to build texture. I pulled out what was already there with almost no changes.
This has a collaged underpainting of photos from National Geographic Magazine. I looked at the collage which was made up of random colors and photographic textures and saw the lake and flowers. The sun melts directly into the lake to light up the flowers.
This painting was fully formed with the random patterns. I did almost no editing. The figure just walked "Out of the Woods".
